Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna has confirmed on the record that Ferrari patented a car that fires jets of compressed air to press itself onto the road, so it can corner, brake and accelerate harder. Ferrari first filed the idea in December 2018 and hasn't announced a car that uses it.
Tesla's next-generation Roadster is out, with production promised for 2028. Deposits are $50,000 for Performance and $250,000 for the Thrust version with rear thrusters; Rocket is invite only and uses 10 thrusters fed by about 600 liters of compressed air (~250 kg across two tanks, per The Verge), according to TechCrunch and The Verge. Porsche pulled the cover off the Mission S on a Queens pier on October 15. It's a design study for a permanent mid-engined model line above the 911, with a 917-style cooling fan, 928-style wheels and no center screen. Engine, power and price are still unannounced, but CEO Michael Leiters says it will offer gasoline, hybrid or plug-in power, no EV, could take a manual or PDK, and will cost 'much more' than a 911.
The only Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse with a bare polished-aluminum body, chassis 8.100, has been certified and returned to its original specification by Bugatti's heritage program and now lives with a new owner on the French Riviera. No price was disclosed.
The History Trust of South Australia has sold the 2008 Veyron EB 16.4 that was a headline exhibit at the National Motor Museum in Birdwood. The buyer is reportedly Adelaide businessman Yasser Shahin and the price is believed to be about AUD $2 million; the Trust confirmed neither.
